WHY ALIGN YOGA?

Being a trained teacher, I bring years of educator's experience with me onto the mat to make sure my students have a safe and rewarding practice.

You will be invited to follow your breath to find YOUR full expression of each asana. While I love flowing with the breath, I will also create opportunities for you to explore each asana's foundation and alignment in depth. I often suggest ways to make an asana more approachable with the use of props.  My intention is to help you create your personal yoga space for the time we are together, no matter whether online or in person, and fully embrace physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of your practice.

Walking into a new yoga class may be intimidating. Even more so with the advent of social media: watching incredible bodies of Insta-yogies in mind-blowing twists and circles can hardly boost anyone's confidence.

When I first stepped onto the mat, I was no exception. Being extremely self-aware of my postures imperfection, I tried to push myself to the limit - the only way to make progress that I knew of at the time. It took years of coming back again and again onto that mat to discover new ways of improving, of opening, of communicating with my own body and mind.

At Align Yoga I strive to create a safe space with no judgement and no comparison so that you feel confident about your body expression.

I love a beautiful metaphor I once heard in a yoga class. Every time you show up for your practice, you build something beautiful, something magnificent, something mysterious - just like a sand castle with all its quaint towers and shapes. Every time you finish your practice with shavasana - you need to let go of your beautiful creation because it will not be there next time you come back and you will be building something completely new. Just like watching a wave washing away your sand castle once the tide is high.

This metaphor is one of the many lessons I've carried from my mat into life. And they indeed worked magic for me. My biggest reward now is to help others discover a side of yoga that they can connect to and benefit from on and off the mat- whether physically, emotionally or spiritually.

I look forward to meeting you on the mat. Namaste,

Masha
